For over 30 years the Grünewald Guild has served as a creative and innovative example to the world of the transformative power of art and the sacred within the context of community. We are an ecumenical Christian community that embraces people of all journeys and traditions, serving as a sanctuary for their exploration of art, faith and the mystery of creation.
Explore the various ways of creating functional pottery. Learn different hand building techniques including slabs, coils, and pinched pots or try your hands at throwing on a potter’s wheel. Once the projects have been fired they will then be glazed using an early 13th century style called Majolica (pronounced "may-O-lick-a"). This glaze uses a tin base and then colorants or stains are painted on top. The results can be as detailed as a watercolor painting or as free and loose as a Jackson Pollock painting or anything in between. Color, color and more color!
