For over 30 years the Grünewald Guild has served as a creative and innovative example to the world of the transformative power of art and the sacred within the context of community. We are an ecumenical Christian community that embraces people of all journeys and traditions, serving as a sanctuary for their exploration of art, faith and the mystery of creation.
By invoking the power of words, this class will explore ways to create our own treasury of sacred creative expressions. We will use language creatively to engage the ways we see ourselves, perhaps alter our views and possibly change how we see our lives in the larger world. Using creative writing ideas, we will explore and engage our stream of deeper insights that often call us, may even dare us to confirm that what we sense about ourselves and our lives is true but have had no ideas or words with which to give expression. So we will awaken and nourish our imaginations—experiences necessary for wholeness in our lives—with methods of attentiveness from Lectio Divina to collecting objects in our surroundings to create a collage and write a poem or personal narrative or story that gives life to questions that ask us to pay attention to where we are led. All levels—beginners to experienced writers—are very welcome. Come ready to listen deeply, share responses and write a lot.
