Previous students say, "Anne perfectly balances hands-on teaching with independent play time to learn new skills."
In this class, we will focus on designing & building our own unique ceramic jewelry. We will begin by sculpting and hand-painting pendants and beads from earthenware clay. Our finished beads will be assembled into earrings, bracelets, or pendant necklaces using wire-wrap techniques.
In addition to learning techniques for working with clay and wire, we will explore a variety of design elements related to the jewelry-making process.
All experience levels (including beginners!) are welcome. Ages 14+
* This class will be limited to a maximum of 8 students. *
What will class time be like? Will I need to work outside of class?
Class will begin with brief instructor demonstrations, followed by independent student work time with one-on-one feedback and instruction. While all work can be completed within the scheduled class time, participants are welcome to continue working in the afternoons and evenings.
What can I expect to create?
Each student can expect to create at least one practice bracelet and pair of earrings with regular beads, and at least one ceramic bracelet and/or pair of earrings with silver plated wire. Students can also expect to create many extra ceramic pendants and beads to assemble into jewelry during the afternoon or evening hours, or to take home for use at a later time.
What should I bring to class?
All necessary materials will be provided; however, participants are encouraged to bring photographs or sample beads and buttons to use for design inspiration.
