For over 30 years the Grünewald Guild has served as a creative and innovative example to the world of the transformative power of art and the sacred within the context of community. We are an ecumenical Christian community that embraces people of all journeys and traditions, serving as a sanctuary for their exploration of art, faith and the mystery of creation.
By all these lovely tokens September days are here, with summer's best of weather and autumn's best of cheer.
-Helen Hunt Jackson
It's hard to believe that summer is already coming to a close here at the Guild. The bustle of conversations and classes has given way, nearly overnight, to a quiet campus as we prepare for our fall season. If there was any doubt or denial that autumn is on its way, it is quickly dispersed by the harsh chatter of Douglas squirrels busily filling tree boles with a winter's worth of pinecones. But even with increasingly cooler nights, the days remain warm and the light golden.
E-mails and notes of thank you and blessing continue to come in from guests and faculty expressing their gratitude for the feeling of second home-ness they experienced while here. It is a great affirmation of our mission and work to hear that, when people arrive here at the Guild, they feel as though they've come home. And so, as summer turns to fall and schedules shift and kids go to school, we encourage you to hold close fan those embers of creativity and community that you experienced while with us this summer.
We hope to have you back here with us again soon...but until then, we'll keep the homefires burning.
As children of God, created in the image of God, we were 'created to create.' Jesus repeatedly told his frends, "Behold! Look! Wow!" Join us and guest author & poet Luci Shaw as she speaks to us abou the need to pay attention...to notice the details of the radiant world around us in order to see the Creator's fingerprints and translate them into our own imaginitive lives.

October 14-16
In our busy lives we can get so focused on action, we forget to pause and notice the beauty that surrounds us. We elude our essential rhythm by moving midlessly from task to task, discounting renewal and delight, and in doingn so we lose our way. During this women-only weekend, nourhsed by nature and delicious food and restorative processes, you will shed the burdens of day-to-day life and reflect on thoughts and obligations that are feeding the feeling of busyness.
This retreat is currently FULL. However, you can contact facilitator Kayce Stevens Hughlett to be placed on a waiting list if any spots become available.
November 3-6

A one-person show by Guild co-founder Richard Caemmerer
Oct 3 - Dec 15, 2011
Whether you are local or not, this is a wonderful opportunity to see the most recent body of work by Richard Caemmerer, visionary and co-founder of the Grünewald Guild over 30 years ago. The show will run from October 3 - December 15 at the Icicle Arts Gallery in Leavenworth, WA. On Saturday, Oct. 15 from 5-7 pm there will be a special reception and presentation by Richard about his work. If you're from out of town, contact us for room availabilty at the Guild and make a weekend of it and take in the stunning colors and season of fall in the valley.
The months of December and January are some of the slowest and, financially, most difficult times here at the Guild. However, for those who have been here in the winter, they know the stunning beauty that is to be found on our campus during those months when a fire is crackling in the Centrum and Nathan's homemade hot chocolate is simmering on the stove. If you would like to come out for a weekend getaway (with family, friends, or even just yourself) please don't hesitate to contact us--we would love to host you!
