For over 30 years the Grünewald Guild has served as a creative and innovative example to the world of the transformative power of art and the sacred within the context of community. We are an ecumenical Christian community that embraces people of all journeys and traditions, serving as a sanctuary for their exploration of art, faith and the mystery of creation.
"Jump in. Immerse. And love it."
- Richard Caemmerer
We have officially passed the midway mark of our summer season! These past weeks have been filled with wonderful people, beautiful experiences and stunning works of art and creativity. From Raku firings to calligraphic texts to strokes and splashes of color on canvas, the spirit of the Grünewald Guild has been present throughout it all.
We have jumped in. We are immersed. And we are loving it.
Although summer is a busy time for us, over the last few years we have been working hard to build up our year-round programming and activities here at the Guild. This consists of two parts: 1) providing various retreats and workshops throughout the fall, winter and spring, and 2) simply serving as an affordable space and resource for organizations, churches and other groups who need a location for retreats and gatherings...or even those seeking personal retreat or sabbatical.
December and January are traditionally the slowest and, financially, the most difficult for us. However, this time of year is one of the most beautiful here when the campus is blanketed with snow and has a sense of quiet that isn't found during the summer months. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing can be had, as well as cozy evenings in the Centrum with a fire in the stove and a hot chocolate or latte to drink. Some people find traveling over the passes intimidating, but we can easily coordinate pick-ups at the Leavenworth train and bus stops before and after your stay with us.
If you are interested in having your next retreat or event at the Grünewald Guild and have any questions about logistics or pricing, don't hesitate to give us a call in the office and we would love to work with you!
We have a few classes coming up that we want you to be aware of so you can mark your calendars and plan accordingly:
A Weekend of Rest, Renewal & Delight: Soul Collage & More
Fall Encaustic Foundations Retreat
Our 4th annual Holiday Gifting Week will also be taking place in November--specific dates TBA!

It's always great to hear from other people about their stays. Joanne Fong, a recent guest here from Philadelphia who participated in our "Meditation in Pastel" class, recounts her experience here at the Guild on her church's blog: http://www.bmpc.org/blog.htm
And just one more image: reclaiming clay the old-fashioned way!
